La Casa Del Formaggio’s 30th Birthday Celebration (Part 2)

La Casa Del Formaggio’s 30th Birthday Celebration (Part 2)

La Casa Del Formaggio is celebrated its 30th Birthday at its factory outlet shop on November 21st, 2018. Our customers and team were treated to specials, giveaways, samples and free wood fired pizza.

Established in 1988, La Casa Del Formaggio was created when Gerardo and Rosa Cicchiello decided to convert their humble continental deli in the Adelaide suburb of Hectorville into a full-time cheese making business. The family has maintained a small continental style cheese shop all these years as a way to distribute cheese at its freshest, and keep a strong connection to our local community.

Today, La Casa Del Formaggio has become synonymous with premium quality fresh cheese throughout Australia. Its products can be found on the shelves of Coles and Woolworths as well as in independent supermarkets and specialty food stores. La Casa Del Formaggio introduced Bocconcini to Australian supermarkets in 1999, making soft white balls of cheese commonplace in summer salads and winter pizzas for all Australian families to enjoy.

“La Casa Del Formaggio is Italian for the ‘Home of Cheese,’” says Claude Cicchiello, Managing Director. “We are a family business and the idea of home is central in everything that we do. Our team, our customers and our suppliers are all part of our extended family. We are completely uncompromising when it comes to quality. I am absolutely proud of our 30th anniversary and the passionate team that have been part of the journey.”

On Thursday November 15th, a celebration was held at the Italian Centre in Adelaide to celebrate our 30th anniversary.

We were so proud to share a reflection of our journey with our customers, suppliers, family, friends and long-serving employees. A video that captures the spirit of the business, and tells the story of how the family has perservered over the years was shown on the night. To watch this video, click here.

At a special occasion, you gotta Burrata!

7th World Pizza Championship Australia!

La Casa Del Formaggio was honoured to be the sole cheese partners for the 7th World Pizza Championship Australia hosted by Pizza Revolution this week! It was such a fun competition where we got to watch some of Australia’s most talented pizza makers battle it out for the coveted prize of joining the world’s elite in the Parma Italy World Comp next year.

Our Managing Director Claude served on the judging panel and was especially looking for a nice even cheese melt with no blistering. 👌🏽

Congratulations to all who participated and well done to the winners (below)!

Famiglia Recipe Book Launch

Famiglia Recipe Book Launch

La Casa Del Formaggio launched their first recipe book “Famiglia” on May 18th at the Barr Smith Library on the University of Adelaide campus. The crowd was made up of staff, friends of the company, and long time customers and retailers who have supported the company for the past 28 years.

The company chose to hold the launch at the Barr Smith Library which is a stunning space filled with history and stories. We gathered to celebrate the story of the Cicchiello family, who migrated from Italy and brought with them several traditions surrounding food, cooking and cheesemaking.

The event was a fun night that starred food, particularly recipes cooked straight out of the Famiglia Recipe Book including Arancini Balls, Meatballs stuffed with Bocconcini, Rosa’s famous Pizza Piena as prepared by her daughter Marisa, and of course, as many Cannoli as anyone could eat!

Gerardo’s 70th Birthday!

Gerardo’s 70th Birthday!

On February 10th, 2015 we celebrated the 70th birthday of our founder Gerardo Cicchiello! A fine Italian celebration was held in his honour, with all of his Italian favourites – pizza, eclairs and chinotto!

We also commissioned a special birthday cake made by How Sweet It Is, a cake maker on Pulteney St in Adelaide. The chocolate 4 layer cake features a miniature icing figurine of Gerry, cutting a large wheel of cheese. This is a tribute to Gerry’s tireless commitment to cutting and grating cheese for our Factory Outlet Shop 6 days a week, without a day off.

The figurine was modeled after this picture of Gerry – pretty good attention to detail, huh?

Gerry commented that this was a grand celebration for him. Growing up on a dairy farm in Provincia di Benevento with 9 brothers and sisters, they never celebrated birthdays – they would be celebrating all the time, he said! His children, our Managing Director Claude and Shop Manager Marisa, were there to help Gerry celebrate, along with a big group of La Casa Del Formaggio staff including factory workers of 10+ years!
